Turning Away from the One I Looked Up To, a poem

A poem I wrote to go through what happened today.  If it’s alright with you, I’d rather not talk about it.

Turning Away from the One I Looked Up To

I walked away with their words—

They were daggers,

Floating around me.

I fended them off with songs,

With anger,

My scratchy voice.

But eventually, I bled

Not blood, but

Crystal-clear tears.

Someone I looked to

Called me a fool.

Yet I surely they didn’t mean it.

But it still hurts, you ask?

It does.

  1. Pain comes and goes and unfortunately comes again. Treat it like water on a ducks back. Let it roll off and hope it evaporates in to thin air quickly!
