Hey, everybody. It’s me again.
I know that usually about this time, I’d have a flash fiction piece for you, but things didn’t work out that way this week.
And that’s because I’ve decided that I’m going on another hiatus from blogging.
As before with the first hiatus, I’m going to be focusing on working on my creative projects like my novel, short stories, and music. What’s going to be different this time around is that I don’t know when I’ll be back. I also don’t know if I’ll be back here or on a different website entirely.
Because as I’m coming to learn more and more about how the business aspects of being a writer and a blogger, I’ve realized that I’ve kind of put the cart before the horse. I started blogging back into 2012 because it was what all the cool writers did, and it gained some traction when I started posting more regularly and starting blogging about life and the craft of writing.
Which was good and rewarding for a time, but… I want to be able to come back to this blog with a book or collection of short stories behind me first before I try to write weekly flash fiction or writing tips. I want to be able to focus on one creative thing at a time, because if it’s not, then it gets scattered and kind of loses focus.
And at the end of the day, a blog is just like any other social media platform. Although it may be treated like a diary by some, most writers who are serious don’t treat it that way. They come out with content week after week for their readers, and with me, I just don’t think I’m at that level yet.
I can see blogging or keeping a newsletter of some kind in the future — just not right now. Right now, I’m going to be focusing a little bit on other things.
